Hello everyone!
After a long time, we’d like to give you an update on the development of our project.
Gameplay
Since our last update, we’ve been working arduously on the game’s mechanism, making tweaks and minor changes testing various mechanisms. Finally, we are confident we’ve achieved balance among players, heroes and the quests & deeds which they will need to accomplish.
The game’s mechanism in it’s final form is innovative, simple in it’s design and function, while offering players various tactical approaches in winning the game. Deus Ex Machina has become a fast-paced “hero placement” game (giving the traditional “worker placement” mechanism an upgrade), where players may face unexpected twists, indirect “backstabbing” and surprise comebacks! The game’s duration varies from 30 to 45 minutes. We’ve also decided to exclude the use of any Die in the design of the mechanism, as the replayability we wanted is achieved from the 3 different decks of cards (Hero, Quest and Divine Intervention cards).
Artwork
We are very excited to announce the return of veteran illustrator Giota Vorgia. Her work in our first project “Argonauts” was amazing and she was our natural choice for illustrating this project. Working alongside Giota, we have rising comic-book artist Michael Katoglou. We found his technique and style perfect with what we have envisioned for Deus Ex Machina.
